Closing Ceremony of the Specialized Course “Understanding Imamate” Held with Emphasis on the Legacy of the Lucknow Scholarly School

The closing ceremony of the educational course “Understanding Imamate with a focus on the Imamate legacy of the Lucknow Scholarly School” was held with a speech by Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Mokhtari, head of the Shi’a Bibliography Institute. This specialized course was carried out by the efforts of the International Imamate Foundation and the Imamate Scientific Association, and with the cooperation of the Office of the Supreme Leader, in the form of 10 sessions and for 30 training hours.

In this ceremony, which was accompanied by the حضور of professors, researchers, and course participants, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Mokhtari referred to the richness of the scientific and hadith legacy of the Lucknow school, and emphasized the necessity of preserving and promoting these intellectual reserves in the contemporary world. He also considered the role of scientific and research centers to be key in explaining and deepening the pure concepts of Imamate.

The course “Understanding Imamate” was designed and implemented using experienced professors familiar with the hadith and theological legacy of Lucknow, and its goal was to raise the level of knowledge and insight regarding the position of Imamate in Shi’a thought. At the end of the ceremony, a valid certificate of participation in the course was awarded to all participants.

This educational program is evaluated as a step in the direction of realizing the views of the Supreme Leader regarding the explanation and deepening of Islamic teachings and strengthening the discourse of Imamate at the level of the country’s scientific community and beyond that, in the Islamic world.

A session was held to review the draft of a long novel about Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn Lakhnavi.

Re-examining the “Manhaj of the Verses” in ʿAbaqāt al-Anwār

Among the different sections of ʿAbaqāt al-Anwār, its “First Manhaj” holds a fundamental position in explaining the question of Imamate. This section, commonly known by the title “Verses,” may at first appear to be devoted solely to examining the verses that indicate Imamate; however, a more careful study of the structure of ʿAbaqāt shows that this understanding is incomplete and, to some extent, incorrect.

Notes

Re-examining “Hadith al-Ghadir” in ʿAbaqāt al-Anwār

Among the textual proofs related to the question of Imamate, Hadith al-Ghadir holds a special position. This hadith, which has been transmitted with the well-known wording, “Whoever I am his mawla, then this ʿAlī is his mawla,” is among the traditions that have received extensive attention from Muslim scholars throughout history. However, a comprehensive and methodical examination of this hadith requires extensive investigation across various sources and a precise analysis of both its chain of transmission and its indication.

Notes

Re-examining “Hadith al-Wilayah” in ʿAbaqāt al-Anwār

The examination of “Hadith al-Wilayah” in ʿAbaqāt al-Anwār is a clear example of Allamah Mīr Ḥāmid Ḥusayn’s scholarly methodology; a methodology in which extensive investigation, precise analysis of chains of transmission, and multilayered analysis of indication are brought together.
