Members of the Secretariat of the International Congress Commemorating Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn Lakhnavi met with Ayatollah Shahidi.
A group of members of the secretariat of the International Congress Commemorating Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn Lakhnavi, by attending the office of Ayatollah Shahidi, presented a report on the process of scientific, research, and executive activities of this congress.
In this meeting, Professor Mohammad Taghi Sobhani, referring to the goals of the congress, proceeded to explain the position of Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn and the Lucknow scientific school in the history of Imamiyyah thought, and presented a brief report on the activities of the International Imamate Foundation in the field of Imamate-research and responding to doctrinal doubts.
In the continuation, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Dr. Ruhollah Kazemi, the secretary of the congress, presented a report on the actions performed in the path of reviving the scientific heritage of the family of the author of Abaqat. Referring to the process of reviving the valuable “Abaqat al-Anwar” collection, he announced the identification and collection of manuscripts, the formation of a comprehensive bank of manuscript images, the compilation of the bio-bibliography (Shinakht-nameh/شناختنامه) of Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn, the systematic extraction of research topics, and the compilation of works related to the scientific methodology of the author of Abaqat.
The secretary of the congress also pointed to the holding of scientific sessions and pre-sessions inside and outside the country, the researches carried out about the Lucknow scientific school, and the efforts to introduce the scientific capacities of this Shiite civilizational sphere, and presented a report on the secretariat’s actions in the field of training specialized researchers in the arena of Imamate-research and continuing the scientific path of Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn.
Ayatollah Shahidi also in this meeting, while appreciating the efforts made in reviving the works and scientific heritage of the author of Abaqat, considered these activities as a valuable service to the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
Referring to the expansion of doctrinal doubts in the media and cyberspace, he emphasized the necessity of strengthening scientific and theological (Kalam) activities in Islamic seminaries (Hawzas) and counted the training of specialized forces, familiar with doctrinal foundations and capable in the arena of responding to doubts, as among the important needs of today’s Islamic society.
Ayatollah Shahidi also, pointing to the richness of the Shiite theological (Kalam) heritage, emphasized making use of the enduring works of great scholars such as Sheikh Mufid, Seyyed Mortaza, and Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn in facing contemporary intellectual questions and challenges, and considered the continuation of this scientific path as an important necessity for safeguarding the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
